Survivors’ Pension Benefits (deceased while on duty)

Payment requirements

If a member or a former member falls under one of the following conditions from 1 to 3, this pension is given to the person’s survivors. Deaths during an accident while commuting (commuting accident) are not covered by Survivors’ Pension Benefits (deceased while on duty).
The scope and priorities of survivors are the same as that of the Survivors' Employees' Pension.

If a member dies from sickness or an injury caused while on duty.
If a former member dies from sickness or an injury caused while on duty for which the first medical examination is made during a participation period within 5 years after the first medical examination.
(If the former member had a participation period of one or more years with 25 or more years of premium-paid periods, it will apply to cases where the person dies due to sickness or injury caused while on duties which the date of the first medical examination is during the participation period.)
Note:
Only applies to sickness and injuries with the date of the the first medical examination on or after October 1, 2015.
If a person with eligibility to receive Disability Pension Benefits (disabled while on duty) for Disability Grade 1 or 2 dies from sickness or an injury that was the basis for receiving the Disability Pension Benefits (disabled while on duty).
(If the person is eligible to receive Disability Pension Benefits (disabled while on duty) and had a participation period of one or more years with 25 or more years of premium-paid periods, it will apply to cases where the person dies from the same sickness or injury that the payment of Disability Pension Benefits (disabled while on duty) is based on.)

Payment pattern

This pension is a life pension.
Since this pension aims to stabilize survivors’ livelihood, the minimum guarantee is configured.
When a person has the eligibility for also Disability Pension Benefits (disabled while on duty), the person needs to select also one of these pensions.
