Notifying the National Pension System

When there are lifestyle changes such as getting/changing a job, marriage, divorce or the retirement of a spouse, the insured person type of National Pension also changes. When the type is changed, notification must be made.
If this notification is neglected, please ensure you notify PMAC if the type changes. Neglecting to notify the change may result in disadvantages in the calculation of pensions to be paid in the future.

Notifications regarding Category 1 Insured Persons are made to the corresponding municipality and notifications regarding Category 2 and 3 Insured Persons are made to PMAC through the school office.

Notification regarding the transfer of a member

• When a member aged 59 or younger retires from a private school and becomes self-employed or unemployed:

Notification must be made to the corresponding municipality for both the member and the dependent spouse.

• When a member reaches age 65:

Notification must be made to the corresponding municipality for the dependent spouse.

• When a member retires and becomes a dependent spouse of his/her spouse who is a Category 2 Insured Person:

Notification must be made through the spouse’s company.

• When a member changes to another occupation from private school:

Notification must be made to the new company regarding to the dependent spouse.

Notification regarding dependent spouse’s transfer

• When becoming a dependent spouse of a member due to marriage
• When becoming a dependent spouse after annual income becomes less than 1,300,000 yen

Notification must be made to PMAC.

• When a dependent spouse reaches age 20
• When a member gets married to a non-Japanese who has never participated in the National Pension

Note:
Foreign nationals who did not provide their My Number when applying for National Pension Category III must also submit a form to register their name in Roman letters.

• When a dependent spouse reaches age 60

Notification is not required.

• When terminating status as a dependent spouse after divorce (or bereavement) with a member
• When terminating status as a dependent spouse after annual income reaches 1,300,000 yen or more

Notification must be made to the corresponding municipality.

• When the address of a dependent spouse changes

Notification must be made to PMAC.(Can be omitted if the My Number of the dependent spouse had already been entered in the “Application to Enroll in National Pension as Category 3 Insured Persons” in the past.)

• When there is a change to the name of the dependent spouse

Notification must be made to PMAC (can be omitted if the My Number of the dependent spouse had already been entered in the “Application to Enroll in National Pension as Category 3 Insured Persons” in the past).

• When a dependent spouse dies
