Medical check-up by mail

We have a mailing service in place to help promote your health and wellness. You can earn healthcare points with this service.

Eligibility

Members 30 years or older (including Voluntary Continued Insurance Members), their dependents, and faculty members 75 years or older

Number of examinations

You may take each of the following 4 kinds of examinations once a fiscal year (April 1 to March 31). You may not undergo the same examination more than once in the same year.

Examination items

(1) Colorectal cancer test (Fecal occult blood test)

Collect a sample by scraping the stool with a stick, put the stick back in the bottle, and send it by mail.

(2) Lung cancer test (Sputum cytology)

Collect sputum once a day for three days, put the specimen in a bag with cryopreservation solution, and send the sample in a dedicated container by mail.

(3) Gastric cancer test (Pepsinogen test)

Collect a small amount of blood using a lancet (a puncture device to obtain micro blood samples by puncturing the skin), put the blood on a piece of chromatography paper, and send the paper by mail. The sampling procedure is the same with the PSA test.

(4) Prostate cancer test (PSA test): for male only

Collect a small amount of blood using a lancet (a puncture device to obtain micro blood samples by puncturing the skin), put the blood on a piece of chromatography paper, and send the paper by mail. The sampling procedure is the same with the pepsinogen test.

Test fees

  • The container fee of 500 yen per test per person is borne by the examinee.
  • The examination fee is borne by PMAC.

How to apply

1. Fill out the Application Form for Medical Check-up by Mail (or its copy) and send it with a postal money order* with fixed amount of 500 yen (for the container fee) per test.

Note:
Please ensure to leave the order blank.


2. Alternatively, you may apply by providing the following information in any form of paper: school name, member number, examinee name, relationship with the member, birth date, address, phone number, examination items.

Collecting and sending the samples

Upon receipt of your application, we will send a container(s) for the test(s). Please put your samples in the containers, enclose the containers in a reply envelope, and send it by mail. Please ensure you follow the instructions carefully when collecting samples. The samples must be sent within a month of receiving the containers.

Test Results

The test results will be sent to you in a sealed envelope within approximately three weeks of receiving your samples.

The timing of results reporting varies depending on test types.

Note2:
If samples are improperly collected, we may ask for another sampling.
